5 top tips for writing English correspondence  

1) Use correct grammar 

Make sure to check your written correspondence for grammar mistakes. Grammar errors can distract from your message and give you an unprofessional appearance.


2) Follow the proper format

Use the proper format, such as cover letter, business letter and thank-you letter. Include the date, the recipient's name and address and any other relevant information that may be required.


3) Use vocabulary appropriate for the situation.

Use informal language and formal language for various contexts in everyday life.


4) Know your reader

It’s important when writing English correspondence. Depending on the reader you are writing to, choose the right language and tone.

 

5) Be clear and succinct.

Your message must be delivered in a clear and straightforward way. To make your message understandable, use simple language and clear phrase construction.
